The Dental Education Unit (DEU) in association with IQAC conducted a FDP on “Teaching and Learning” on 01-07-24. The program began at 12pm with 29 staff attending the program. Dr. Shaloob started the presentation explaining the need to incorporate online teaching and learning in today’s scenario. He spoke in detail about the various online teaching platforms like Google Meet. Zoom and Duo. Dr. Shaloob highlighted on the importance and awareness of the platforms to be able to make teaching and learning more effective. He explained how to navigate these platforms and demonstrated the various tools available on each platform to help teaching and learning better. He demonstrated to the staff how to start a class online, how to share screen and also how to record and save classes. He encouraged the staff to volunteer to navigate the applications and helped all download most on to their mobile phones to help better understanding. He added a few incidents from his personal teaching experience especially during the COVID pandemic and explained that one learns with making mistakes and encouraged the staff to use a combined methodology of teaching with both online an offline teaching and learning. The presentation ended with a question answer session. All participants received an E-certificate for their participation.
