On June 1st, 2024, the Department of Public Health Dentistry at MES Dental College organized a dental camp at Palachod Vayanashala. The event commenced at 10 am and extended until 2 pm, catering to the oral health needs of the community. The inauguration ceremony was graced by the president of the Vayanashala, marking the beginning of a day focused on dental care awareness and treatment. A pivotal aspect of the camp was the enlightening speech delivered by Issra, a final year part 2 students, shedding light on the importance of oral health and the role of dentistry in maintaining overall well-being. Throughout the duration of the camp, a dedicated team screened a total of 55 patients, identifying dental issues and providing referrals to MES Dental College for further treatment. Additionally, the mobile dental van facilitated 10 essential dental procedures, ensuring immediate care for those in need. In alignment with World No Tobacco Day brochures were disseminated among the residents and patients, emphasizing the detrimental effects of tobacco use on oral health. This proactive approach towards tobacco cessation further enhanced the holistic approach to dental care offered at the camp.
The dental team, led by Dr. Irene from the Department of Pediatric Dentistry, and supported by Dr. Shana from the Department of Public Health Dentistry, along with interns Dr. Parvathi, Dr. Nivedita, Dr. Sana Abdul, Dr. Ann Mary Manoj, and Dr. Anjana Hari, complemented by the assistance of 15 students and Saran (DORA), the team ensured the success of the camp, leaving a lasting impact on the oral health of the community served.
