The field of prosthodontics relates to all dental procedures that involve repairing or replacing teeth with prosthetics.  Prosthodontics is the dental specialty pertaining to the diagnosis, treatment planning, rehabilitation and maintenance of the oral function, comfort, appearance and health of patients with clinical conditions associated with missing or deficient teeth and/or oral and maxillofacial tissues using biocompatible substitutes. To achieve this goal the department is specialized in designing and fabricating crowns ,bridges ,veneers,inlays ,complete and removable partial dentures and dental implants.The department is also competent in treating jaw joint problems(Temporomandibular joint),traumatic injuries to the mouths structures, congenital or birth anomalies to teeth ,snoring ,sleep disorders and oral cancer reconstruction with prosthesis.

Some of the common treatment procedures carried out in the department include fabrication of complete dentures, RPD, crowns of tooth, bridges ,night guards,porcelain veneers,cleft palate,obturators and placement of dental implants.

Loss of part of mouth or face as a result of congenital defect  ,trauma or surgery are managed by maxillofacial prosthesis.
