PEDIATRIC
DEPARTMENT OF PEDIATRIC AND PREVENTIVE DENTISTRY
“ROOT CANAL FOR A DECIDUOUS TEETH!!?? “IT IS GOING TO FALL OFF ANYWAYS RIGHT !!??” CAN’T WE JUST REMOVE THE TEETH !!??“……These are the most common questions that might surfaced in our department of pediatric and preventive dentistry from its beginning. The answers to those questions are YES, IT IS GOING TO FALL OFF EVENTUALLY BUT ……the primary / deciduous teeth helpin chewing /grinding food (provides good nutrition), speechdevelopment, esthetics (overall psychological well-being and confidence) and the maintenance of space for eventual eruption of permanent tooth (avoidsmalalignment of permanent tooth).
So, in our department of pediatric and preventive dentistry, we focus on providing best dental care to infants and children through adolescence, including those with special health care needs in a comprehensive and friendly manner. Our concerns are the health of the child as a whole, more specifically oral health. With early diagnosis and prompt treatment, we look forward to maintain the primary tooth until they are naturally lost.
The department also emphasizes on preventive dental care for the children hence we increase awareness among parents and care givers with various public health awareness programs and school health programs.
The department facilities include
- Play area with variety of toys, small chairs and tables for children.
- Television with cartoon/ animation films.
- Colorful décor on the walls with cartoon characters gives a good ambience to the little ones.
- Advanced dental materials for preventive and therapeutic oral health care
- Treatment under general anesthesia for those who are too young to cooperate for dental proceduresand mentally and physically challenged children.
